Album Review: The Filaments - Look To The Skies (Pirates Press)
Artist: The Filaments Title: Look To The Skies Label: Pirates Press Records Release Date: 15/06/2018
Having been a fan of The Filaments since a young teenager I was buzzing on hearing that they had recorded a new album and they certainly haven't disappointed one bit! The Essex boys of punk rock have smashed back to form with their new album "Look To The Skies', (released on Pirate Press Records). The album is undoubtedly a big reminder of the mastery to which The Filaments mix skanking horn driven ska with raging hardcore punk. From the opening tune 'Fuck The "Alt"-Right', The Filaments make it clear that despite being a little older their music is no less aggressive and meaningful. Ska/Punk they might be, but Less Than Jake they certainly are not. Sounding polished and punchy throughout, the album even features a cameo appearance from UK ska squat punk legend Jay Terrestrial. All in all this album is a must buy, especially if you like your ska fast, hard and punk as fuck. ___________________________________________ Available now from the The Filaments Webstore or Pirates Press Records PRESSING INFO: 500pcs. - 12" Mustard Vinyl (Retail Version) 300pcs. - 12" Blood Red inside Milky Clear Color-In-Color w/ Mustard and Black Splatter Vinyl (PPR Mailorder Version) 200pcs. - 12" Blood Red Vinyl (Band Version)
